World Ranking Events Hong Kong athletes results – Hong Kong TrailO Information Site

The TrailO world ranking scheme was changed in May 2023 (applied retrospectively from the beginning of the year) in line with other orienteering disciplines. In the current scheme, the score of each competition ranges between 10 and 1000, where 1000 is the level of world champion, and the best 6 results of an athlete within 18 months are added, giving a total of up to 6000.

Previous ranking scheme

The world ranking scheme for TrailO was launched in 2018. The best 6 results of an athlete within 18 months are added to form a score between 0.00 and 90.00.

For each competition, the score is supposed to be between 0.00 and 15.00, the better result the lower score, where 0.00 is the level of world champion, and 15.00 is the level of a beginner. If the calculated result is greater than 15.00, it is capped at 15.00 for ranking purpose, however, if the calculated result is negative – as demonstrated by the extraordinary performance of Antti Rusanen in FinTrailO 2018 TempO – it is used as is and added to the total.
